That's totally normal to feel that way. You don't want to be annoying or bother people or be too pushy...totally get it. But if you approach it not from an idea of them taking an interest in you but more in an idea of making connections with others in the community, it might help.
But it is so helpful to become good at this. It's allowed me to make some incredible connections with amazing artists around the communities and cultivate some friendships. So don't let that little voice inside your head hold you back.

For sure. We still exist in the world but it is so much better than finance, law, real estate, or pretty much any other industry out there. I don't know anyone who was unqualified for a job get a job in this industry based on just their name or who they know.
I really like this post! I feel grateful to remember my classes with Prof. Gaynor and my learnings with her. Last year, I tried to find a mentor as I was not able to land a job, but because I have a hearing disability, the mentor dropped me from the list with an apology, so I was very much depressed about trying again, but now I feel like I should try again for a job and maybe look for a mentor.
